Hi there! I’m May, a girl who loves to wander and wonder! I’m from Saigon, based in Los Angeles, but my current location is anywhere and everywhere. Travel, Photography, Tea Time, Picnic, Home Decor and Event Planning are a few of my favorite things.
inArabymay is a travel and lifestyle blog inspired by beautiful destinations, by color and nature, and by wonderful people that I’ve met on my journey.
South Coast Plaza is ringing in the Year of the Pig with a celebration filled with exciting family-friendly experiences, unique exhibits, and a one-of-a-kind spectacular Year of the Pig centerpiece in Jewel Court from January 31 through February 18. Now on its 9th year, South Coast Plaza’s 20-day Lunar New Year festivities are the largest of any retail center on the West Coast, drawing visitors from Southern California and abroad.
I had an honor to be invited to their Lunar New Year Luncheon at AnQi by House of An. AnQi is a high-end restaurant with exciting modern décor and gourmet Asian fusion fare. The restaurant is honoring Lunar New Year with specially crafted menus symbolic of what this holiday means to those of us who celebrate it.
The best bath towel is an essential part of any luxury lifestyle and interior bathroom décor. There’s nothing like coming out of a relaxing bath or refreshing shower to a big luxe towel! It’s worth spending a bit more to get something that can cheer you up and make your everyday bath experience pleasant! A decent towel can remodel a simple space with a pop of color or you can go all white and extra fluffy to create a spa-like atmosphere. But when it’s time to shop for your towels, you are faced with so many options, in a wide range of prices. It’s hard to choose the right one!
So when our go-to bedding company, Brooklinen, is launching their towel line, I’m super excited. Brooklinen linen bedding has transformed my sleeping experience (check out my review of Brooklinen Linen Bedsheet Bundle here) so when I heard about Brooklinen’s Super-Plush Towel collection, I didn’t hesitate to try.
Valentine’s Day is just 2 weeks away! The smell of scented candles and rose petals is already in the air. The town will soon be painted with red and be filled with boxes of chocolates and teddy bears. Whether you’re having a romantic date or you’re spending your time with your girlfriends, choosing a perfect dress should be your first order of business. Embrace Valentine’s Day in a sweet style that suits the mood. I’ve rounded up several of the prettiest designer dresses to complement all sorts of V-Day scenarios.
Here we are at that time of year again—romance is in the air! You’ve seen stores filled with cards, hearts, chocolate candies, and cuddly little stuffed animals with messages like “Hug Me”, “Be Mine,” or “Let’s Kiss”. It’s the most romantic time of the year and is a big deal for most women. You know me, I’m all about the holidays and especially anything to do with decorating for the holidays! BUT… As I do a quick online search for Valentine’s Day party ideas, and there are just so many party tables smothered in red and pink. Not that I don’t love red and pink at this time of the year, but I’m on the hunt for something a little less vibrant….but more pastel, fairytale, and whimsical.
So this year I have teamed up with some of my favorite LA vendors to bring you lots of inspiration to create a beautiful and magical Valentine’s Day decor. Whether you’re celebrating with the girls for the ultimate Galentine’s Day soiree or treating your Valentine to an afternoon tea for two, these romantic Valentine’s Day decorations are sure to make everyone’s hearts swoon.
In Asian communities, Lunar New Year is the most important holiday of the year. One of the most diverse cities in the world, Los Angeles celebrates the Lunar New Year with colorful parades and family friendly festivals. It is not only a time for family gatherings, but also a time for people to honor ancestors and give thanks. As the Lunar New Year approaches, a great way to experience the excitement of the holiday is visiting Chinatown and having a fun photoshoot with their beautiful lantern displays, neon lights, antique stores, and historic temples. In this blog I’m sharing with you some of my favorite places to take pictures in LA Chinatown!
I’m such a sucker for fresh flowers! I enjoy walking into a room and seeing a vase of fresh flowers. There is something about a bouquet of fresh cut flowers that can just brighten up my day instantly. I’ve also loved the idea of sending flowers to those close to me for special occasions like a birthday, a baby shower, or any other sort of congratulations. A gorgeous display of hand-picked blooms is one of the easiest ways to make your loved ones smile. Unfortunately, ordering flowers from online companies can be a frustrating process. The flowers might come to the door not as fresh as we’d like them to and they almost never look exactly like the ones displayed on their website. But The Bouqs is different. In this blog I will explain why The Bouqs is my new favorite floral delivery service!
In Vietnam, the Lunar New Year is known as Tet. Tet is Christmas, Easter, New Year and Thanks Giving; all rolled into one package. Tet is celebrated from the 1st of January to the 3rd, according to the lunar calendar. It is a time for family reunions, and for paying respect to ancestors and the elders. In this post, I’m sharing with you some of Vietnamese Tet traditions.
It’s no secret that I am completely obsessed with Palm Springs. For years Palm Springs has been a California desert retreat, known for its modern and chic style. Palm Springs is one of the best places to visit all year long, whether you’re coming to party at Coachella or just want to relax by the pool in the sunshine. It’s a lifestyle photographer’s dream location with so many Insta-worthy photo spots, restaurants, and neighborhoods. My Palm Springs City Guide gives you everything you need to know to plan for your upcoming vacay, from things to do, where to stay, and all of my favorite Instagramable spots!
It doesn’t seem to be New Year’s Day without having the Rose Parade playing on the TV. Founded in 1890, the Tournament of Roses, which features flower-covered floats, spirited marching bands and high-stepping equestrian units, is America’s New Year Celebration, a greeting to the world on the first day of the year and a salute to the community spirit. Thousands of families and football fans board flights every year to California to take part in what has become a time-honored tradition.
You’ve seen them on television, and now you’re dying to see all the details of those gorgeous Rose Parade floats up close. Here’s the first thing you need to know: Don’t go to the parade. That’s because there’s a much better way to get a good look at them and take their photos: Post Parade.
As winter sinks in, I normally plan for a vacation somewhere warm and tropical…but this year, I’ve got cabins on my mind. I was dreaming of a cozy winter cabin that can only be reached by dirt roads. Often surrounded with wilderness and seclusion, cabins are wonderful places to take a much needed break from everyday life and serve as fantastic winter getaways. Many visitors to SoCal might be surprised to know that just a short day-trip from Los Angeles sits a winter wonderland in the San Bernardino mountains – Big Bear Lake.
When planning our trip to Big Bear, we looked at all sorts of cabins. Our main criteria was finding a home base in the central area of Big Bear with the rustic charm of an authentic A-frame cabin. During our search, we came across a charming cabin called Lovin’ Life Lodge A-Frame of Mind. This cabin was placed high on a hill with great views and it was a centrally located home base that allowed us to experience Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead area. What a perfect way to celebrate my Christmas holiday with my loved ones! If you are still looking for the perfect winter holiday gift (or maybe next Christmas) for your loved ones, there is nothing better than surprising your family with a getaway to a cabin in Big Bear. In this blog I will share with you 10 reasons why you should stay in a cabin in Big Bear during the holiday season.
